Reading

There is no age limit to discovering the joy of reading. Whether you are studying, wanting to learn something new or reading for pleasure lives are enhanced through books.

If you are looking for your next good read here are some useful websites that may help:

Fantastic Fiction

Fantastic Fiction is an online catalogue of authors and books for those of us who love to read fiction. Search by author or genre, view lists of most popular, top authors and new titles.

Whichbook

Whichbook offers a new way to choose something to read. Rather than search for a particular title or author it allows you to search by mood and emotion, by country, character and plot or starting from a bestseller you have enjoyed.

LoveReading

Another excellent book recommendation site. LoveReading state their mission is to share book love and encourage reading for pleasure by offering the tools, advice and information needed to help our members and browsers find their next favourite book.

LoveReading4Kids

This is the sister website aimed at children, or parents to help children choose their next favourite read. As well as recommended reads you can search by age, fiction or non-ficiton.

BookTrust

The BookTrust is the UK's largest children's reading charity. Their aim is to transform lives by getting children and families reading. They have a wealth of information including recommended reads. The site also has a very handy tool to help select books called the Bookfinder.

Bookfinder will help you discover the very best kids' books: magical mysteries, astonishing adventures and fantastic non-fiction. Simply choose an age range, pick as many themes as you want to search through thousands of book reviews, and get reading.

Remember to check our own recommendations on the home page and to see which books are most popular with Harrow readers, and our digital library for those who prefer eBooks and eAudiobooks.
